Associate Counsel (Compliance – Blue Collar)

Our client is a leading multinational technology company that operates across digital entertainment, e-commerce, and digital financial services sectors.

 

The position

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Associate Counsel to join our legal team in Brazil. The successful candidate will focus on compliance matters related to blue-collar workers. This role involves ensuring that the company adheres to labor laws and regulations, implementing compliance programs, and providing legal support on employment-related issues.

 

Responsibilities

Compliance Management:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs related to blue-collar workforce regulations.
  • Ensure the company adheres to all relevant labor laws and employment regulations in Brazil.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments.

Policy Development:

  • Draft, review, and update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise management on the implications of new and existing labor laws.

Training and Education:

  • Provide training to management and employees on compliance issues and ethical conduct.
  • Develop educational materials and conduct workshops to promote a culture of compliance.

Legal Support:

  • Provide legal advice on employment-related issues, including hiring, termination, workplace safety, and employee relations.
  • Handle and resolve labor disputes and grievances.
  • Represent the company in negotiations, mediations, and proceedings before labor courts and regulatory agencies.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to compliance activities and labor relations.
  • Generate reports on compliance status and issues for senior management.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with HR, operations, and other departments to ensure cohesive compliance practices.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities as needed.

 

Requirements

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and active membersh with a state Bar association.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Law, Compliance, or related fields are a plus.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in compliance or employment law, preferably with a focus on blue-collar workforce issues.
  • Experience in a corporate legal department or law firm is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Brazilian labor laws and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance and employment law in Brazil.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
