Associate Counsel (Dispute Resolutions)

The Position

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of disputes, primarily focused on consumer-related issues. This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of legal risk management.



  • Manage a strategic portfolio of predominantly consumer-related disputes, overseeing the entire lifecycle of legal matters.
  • Conduct risk assessments and evaluate contingencies associated with each dispute.
  • Lead a legal team in coordinating case management and developing strategies for case resolution.
  • Negotiate with clients to achieve extrajudicial conflict resolutions, aiming to minimize costs and financial impacts.
  • Prepare comprehensive management reports to monitor the performance of the dispute portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, analyzing costs and expenses related to legal activities.
  • Design contingency plans and crisis response strategies, providing reports and opinions for senior management decision-making.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of litigation metrics to identify issues and opportunities for workflow improvements.
  • Deliver detailed reports and data analyses to management teams, offering strategic recommendations to enhance legal department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to implement process changes and improvements aligned with internal and external stakeholder needs.
  • Develop and implement internal workflows to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal department.
  • Create and maintain clear, accurate documentation of internal processes to ensure consistency and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Utilize feedback and performance data to continuously enhance existing workflows and develop new process solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal department.



  • Law degree from an accredited law school and active membersh with a state Bar association.
  • 4-6 years of experience in managing complex dispute resolution cases, preferably within a large corporation or law firm specializing in consumer law.
  • Proven track record in strategic legal analysis, risk assessment, and dispute resolution strategy development.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring legal teams.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting related to legal activities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
