We are looking for a tax leader with a legal background to lead a team in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, focused on interaction with the Higher Courts, such as the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The ideal candidate should have a solid background in tax matters and a deep knowledge of the procedures and jurisprudence of these courts, as well as a significant career in law firms with practice in this area.
Responsibilities
- Lead the tax area of the firm, with special attention to interactions with the Superior Courts, including the STF and the STJ, managing and supervising projects and allocating tasks according to the expertise and skills of the team.
- Providing legal advice and representation in administrative and judicial proceedings before the Superior Courts on behalf of clients.
- Develop and present new tax theses/legal solutions for clients, considering the jurisprudence of the mentioned Higher Courts.
- Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and the decisions of the Superior Courts, ensuring that the team and the clients are aware of these changes and can act accordingly.
- Build and maintain relationships with the firm’s clients, ensuring that their needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in tax matters and in-depth knowledge of the procedures and jurisprudence of the Superior Courts, especially the STF and STJ.
- Relevant experience in law firms, working specifically before the Superior Courts, including the preparation of legal opinions, oral arguments, and monitoring of cases, preferably with a master’s degree in Tax Law or related areas.
- Leadership and team management skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to critically analyze tax issues, identify sound legal arguments, and present innovative solutions before the Superior Courts.
- Fluency in English will be considered a plus.
- Ability to handle a dynamic work environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in the preparation of pleadings and technical opinions.
